Heather:

I thought this interview was worth sharing because Richard Dreyfuss makes some really good points about the need for civics to be taught in this country, and although I don't agree with Mike Huckabee about much of anything, this type of interview where there's some respectful discussion rather than shouting someone down who you don't agree with and allowing them to talk is a rarity on Fox.

Huckabee deserves a little kudos for letting Richard speak in a complete, articulate answer.

I'm insanely curious: did he do the same for Maher?

I don't think I agree with Huckabee about much of anything, wither, but I remember that in the primaries he spoke well of the Clintons, said they were good parents he knew from Arkansas -- something my parents can't bring themselves to do.

Seriously, my parents have lived through every president since the Great Depression. And I actually heard my father say, "Bill Clinton was the worst president ever - I was in the Navy during his presidency, and what he did in the Oval office disgraced us all!"

Seriously, though, can we get the Maher/Huckabee interview?

I found that you the Maher interview posted earlier.

Bill really did himself a disservice coming off as testy - that is Huckabee's game, you know!

and I didn't really understand it either, but let it go as posted with a bit of input of my own on it. The Maher/Huckabee interview is posted here.

He should NEVER be allowed even a little bit of power.
There oughtta be a law...no "holy" people can run for political office.

Seen both interviews and I must say that Huckabee ROCKS. I disagree with his world view but he wouldn't let that get in the way of discussing the issue. I hope for next election more intellectuals gain power within the GOP so you guys can have a more reasoned discussion on politics instead of the blastfest you have had for a long while now. Can the media please restrain themselves with the abstractions please? If someone voices opposition to someone's viewpoint, please don't report it as X *BLASTS* Y just because they have a difference of opinion. It's anti-intellectual.

Richard Dreyfuss explains TO MIKE HUCKABEE how we're all slaves. A little different!

Alright, I get that one little better...

Mr Dreyfuss is correct - we don't spend nearly enough time teaching people to THINK. If you can teach a child to think logically, they can be immunized against demagoguery and prejudice at an early age. The art of disagreeing without coming to blows is lost in this country, and I hope we can get it back sometime in the future.
