yes. yes it is.
I love Wanda, she's a riot.
i really wished that was funny, but it wasn't... stewart, colbert... they are funny... i wish her luck 'cause she is fighting the good fight...
Not funny? When have you heard anyone say what she said......."Bush peed all over everything and everyone yells at Obama as if he's zipping up his fly." And on Fox too.
If not outright funny, at least she tells the truth in a refreshing way.
To catch Olbermann and Rachel's ratings..
A sense of humor that was a riot
u didnt think that was funny? she's funny as hell.
i guess everyone has an opinion n/t
It's time for Wanda....a really funny comedienne who takes serious jabs at serious subjects and makes them funny....for the moment...although Ann Coulter, George W and Fox are anything but funny, it's good to see someone making fun of them so effectively, since all 3 think they are untouchable and invincible.
WTF??
Interesting. Maybe even Rupert Murdoch sees the writing on the wall and is slowly trying to broaden FOX's appeal to a more liberal audience?
I mean...first Shep Smith, now Wanda Sykes. Maybe they'll give Chomsky his own show.
That's PRICELESS.
If we were both single I would change teams.
I was gonna watch and then i though... naaa. I watched the sykes show though!
and kiss my ass Ann
Hilarious, Wanda! I don't know HOW you got a show on FOX, but I sure hope you stay on the air for a LONG time!
Fox can't handle that much truth, comedy or otherwise. She'll be gone in no time. After all, who with a brain watches Fox? But that rocked!
I see the horsie, corpse-like visage of mann coulter on this clip, so I'm not going to play the video until I know whether she's allowed to speak on it. If she is, I may not be playing it. I don't like the person I become when coulter speaks. And how often have I read a piece with a video clip here at C and L that promises a smack down only to find when I play the video that a "smack down" is a mere slap on the wrist. So, please, somebody tell me: Am I going to get real satisfaction from this clip?
n/t
I REALLY dislike coulter so I understand exactly your trepidation; i laughed my ass off at the beginning of the clip.
Really.
Yea, a lot of it was really funny, but the part I appreciated the most was her candor about how she'll kiss murdoch's ass because he's giving her money. It's along the lines of what I've always thought must be true about the fox noos pundits. The only one I believe is truly too dumb to shit is hannity. And o'reilly is the only one I feel is truly a mental case. Otherwise, I never have thought these people could possibly be as stupid or twisted as the crap they espouse. Just like Sykes, they do it for the money. Happily, Sykes seems to be allowed to say what she likes here.
I doubt the show will make it, though.
rocks steady.
she's great on curb your enthusiasm too.
Funniest part of the monologue. Good stuff.
Funny. The heads must be exploding at Faux.
I lurve Wanda Sykes!
The material was not bad, but her delivery had a lot to be desired. The bad delivery was distracting, actually.
I'm sure it's new show jitters, though. Give her a bit of time.
Yes, she isn't as polished and even as many comedians, particularly for someone who landed a TV show, but the content is dynamite and her heart is in the right place. Loved it.
Like much of Fox, she talked about Fox.
Wanda said:
I woke up and people were mad at obama. I thought - did I miss something?
Yeah - the evacuation of the American Dream.
Did Obama start two illegal wars?
No, but he is ever so slowly cutting one down (Iraq) and is actively looking to ramp up the other (afghanistan, where all great Empires go to die), so he may not have started them, but he hasn't stopped either of them, which is almost as bad.
did he fly over a flood zone and just wave?
No, he just put the fools who destroyed the American Economy (a disaster that make New Orleans look like a walk in the park) in charge of "fixing" it, which is WORSE than flying over a floodzone and waving.
did he torture detainees in a secret prison?
We don't know. The CIA still has secret prisons all over the world. You think staying in one is like the Ritz Carlton?
did he start illegally tapping phones?
No, but he hasn't dismantled the program, either, and he;'s had PLENTY of time to do that.
did he alienate the world and squander a budget surplus?
No he did not alienate the world, but he did take the ridiculous deficits of the Bush Junta and multiple them and gave it all to wall street, which is a vastly less than brilliant move on his part.
Because if he did any of that, we need to impeach that jackass.
Well, Wanda, he hasn't rescinded the Bush Junta's cessation of habeus corpus, so you better watch how you talk - you could end up on a jet plane for the next few years...
Obama's administration has been one crushing disappointment after another.
I mean heaven forbid he's been sitting on his ass for the last nine months. The guy hasn't done shit since he took office. Keep on tweaking belle....I'm sure it's what you do best. *snark
I mean heaven forbid he's been sitting on his ass for the last nine months. The guy hasn't done shit since he took office.
Look at the obvious, and let the facts speak.
Economy? Bailed out Wall Street at the expense of future generations. FAIL.
Did he announce the immediate cessation of two murderous and ill-conceived wars? No. FAIL.
Did he announce the defunding of the building of 14 permanent military bases in Iraq? No. FAIL.
Did he bring back Habeus Corpus, something he could have done by decree? No. FAIL.
[Deleted-Sitemonitor]
doesn't bush/chenny deserve at least some of the blame since they started everything you say O hasn't ended?
Don't you think he could do a faster job ending these things if he were not encumbered by so many republican senators and congresscritters?
Do you think you could have done as well?
republicanism/conseravtism is a mental illness that is killing America with stupidity!
what makes you think he knows what the stupid idiot CIA is doing?
He closed gitmo down. And is trying to deal with the aftermath. I like how when its "We don't know", you still won't give him the benefit of the doubt. Hmm.
So far he seems to be continuing all of Bush legacy. Cant even credit him for closing GITMO, but he did stop the torture.
what makes you think he knows what the stupid idiot CIA is doing?
He's the president. THAT'S HIS JOB YOU IDIOT.
can you point me to the section of the constitution (or any other official document) that sets the president as the overseer of the CIA? Are they not a separate entity from the government, a loose cannon we have been tolerating for some time with really no set boundries? What is their charter? Who in the government has the authority to shut down operations? If they don't play by the rules, who prosecutes?
Thanks
LOL.
unfair and biased ?
i did not see anything about fox , did i miss something ? , look in the bottom right hand coner it says Moxnews.com
Fox you can kiss my ass ! .
I think you're right. So she probably did this for Comedy central, or some other channel.
Broadcast, not one of the cable channels they own. Yes, owned by Murdoch, but not overseen by Roger Ailes.
Remember, this is the network that has been carrying The Simpsons- not a conservative-friendly show at all- since it was just a poorly animated bit on The Tracy Ullman Show. This is the network that brought you In Living Color, Arrested Development and (still on the air) Family Guy, all shows that come from quite liberal points of view.
BTW, Wanda's show replaces Talkshow With Spike Feresten in the unattractive 11pm EST (or later, depending on the affiliate) Saturday timeslot.
They just edited and put their logo on there. Just like the C&L video people put the C&L brand on stuff they've ripped and edited.
i have to fess up , and proud to say i have NEVER watched fox , as i dont watch tee vee .
No cable here. If the tv's on, it's usually on PBS, though I've got a few shows- 30 Rock, Lost, Community- that I follow on commercial broadcast tv...And, actually, because I'm working 2nd shift now, I watch those on Hulu.
and history , cooking , discovery , science and few others , just not enough to sit and watch or pay for it .
And im proud to say i have never watched a BB game , i'd rather watch paint dry .
Having spent much of my life in Orange County (CA), AD lampooned the Newport Beach experience perfectly.
lol too funny. I love Wanda, she says whatever is on her mind lol. You can tell she has the first show jitters i'm sure after a little tweaking she will really come into her own and appear much more comfortable. This is kinda like Real Time with Bill Maher meets The Daily Show with Jon Stewart meets Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Glad I have something to watch on Saturday nights now. I must say It's very liberal of faux to give a woman, lesbian, african-american and outspoken/opinionated liberal their own show. Let's keep our fingers crossed
Is she as funny as Stewart or Colbert? No, but there's a market for her. It's called the other 90% of people who aren't intellectual elites.
It's always good to see another show that uses entertainment to keep average people informed about what's happening. Better than another distraction any day.
Best of luck to her and the crew.
I like her comedy but the show seems a bit awkward and her guests seemed uneasy. She cuts FOX no slack. I thought I had T-dar but it failed with her "female" sidekick. I thought how nice of her to have an outlandishly fun large female on her show. He briefly stepped out of character with a deep gravelly voice. This must be a weekly show. I don't know how they could joke-write this quality daily. Any fun poked at Coulter is worthwhile.
though I could have sworn I saw her in a TV commercial playing a "personal consultant" for incontinence products. "At last," I thought, "something more in line with her qualifications."
Sure there are some kinks to work out, but overall Wanda delivers. I have always been a fan of her work. Her recent HBO special "Ima Be Me" is hilarious.
Good luck Wanda!
It sure was. She really shined. I think i'm going to go watch it now lol
amazing that we have a show like this on now. wanda sykes is perfect for this day and age n/t
Indeed! She's raunchy, tell it like it is, take no prisoners kind of comedian and can pretty much get away with and say what she wants to say, she even told faux "where to go and what to kiss" on faux.
the opening mash up with coulter made me nearly choke with laughter. I thought it was real and i watched it with great trepidation, since my dislike for coulter is visceral. I'm sure part of my reaction was relief at not having to face that blonde harpy.
I needed that on a Sunday night before Monday arrives!! Funny funny stuff!! I look forward to her show!!
and be funny. You can also be vulga. Wanda's humor is vulgar.
Yes she is telling the truth. But she is vulgar. To be a Liberal, you don't have to be vulgar.
You could also try being f**king coherent.
Curious did anyone get upset when it was known that Bush would go to read my pet goat at an elementary school?
Cancelled by the end of the year. I like her politics and some of the lines are funny but the delivery is heavy and her voice starts to get grating after about 10 minutes.
Oh, I guess just because she's a liberal I should automatically shower her performance with accolades. Don't be a hypocrite. If she was a right winger doing stand up with that voice and delivery you'd be hammering her for the same thing. Just because someone shares my politics doesn't mean i've automatically think they are going to make it in whatever field they go into.
Come on! good grief. Your comment is something I would expect to hear from the right. Why can't we support our own on television. I'm sure after some tweaks it will be even better. you act like it's not better than what it replaced on fox at 11PM on Saturdays. I'm sure after a couple of shows you will barely notice the new show jitters and she'll be much more comfortable in her delivery.
We shall see...
Go Wanda!! In the U.S. nowadays, it takes a comedienne to to point out the obvious, those things that our main stream news organizations won't touch. Apparently, it's sacrilege to criticize Faux News. I wrote a "Letter to Editor"our very conservative local paper to offer an alternate point of view regarding Fox's ideologically distorted news. It was well written, reasoned, not too long. Guess I'm being censored.
Of the women talk show hosts, only Oprah isn't homosexual?
Who cares?
I find it a statistical oddity, like lesbianism is an aid for talk show success for women. You don't find it curious? At least remarkable? Ellen DeGeneres, Wanda Sykes, Rosie O'Donald and the unmarried Oprah Winfrey? Perhaps it's so demanding as to allow little room for family, giving lesbians some sideways advantage.
Come to think of it, Letterman and O'Brien are both single, and Johnny Carson and Rush Limbaugh notoriously went through a series of wives. Leno is married, but has no children.
Letterman is married with one child.
Bush PEE!! Still in the White House carpets!
I am so repulsed by Fox News, anything Rupert Murdoch, that it's difficult for me to watch her show. I refuse to buy a subscription to WSJ, and I can't stand the thought of supporting anything related to Fox News. Maybe this is their way of trying to capture an audience they can't capture with their other programming. I don't want to support that effort.
"The man is giving you money, Rupert can I get you a T-shirt?" That line said it all to me. It's like selling your soul to the devil having a show on his network.
Excuse the new show jitters; I watched The Colbert Report from day 1 and it took Stephen a few weeks to get his jitters out and the correct personna adopted. My husband didn't even like the show for the first season, but now he's a fan.
As far as Wanda's voice goes; that's part of who she is and if it is so annoying then why is she doing voice over work for major animated movies? Gracie Allen's voice wasn't exactly smooth honey either, but people seemed to get past that.
Sheesh, everybody's a frickin' critic; how about we get behind one of ours for a change rather than tearing them down, since afterall, the rethugs are going to go after Wanda for being blunt about Shrub. I thought we'd ceded the circular firing squad to the other side of the aisle?
Wanda was great, her attack on the lady of the night double lip lock on you love muscle I do not have a brain coulter was great
Lets see what the Anti American Noise nit nit Noise section is going to say.
Way to go Wanda!
I didn't watch it...
I'm sure she was really funny, but...it was on Fox.
I didn't watch it, either....
I love this video... guess that's how I'll have to see her because I will NEVER watch fox.
But, admittedly, I'm not a fan of Wanda. Was nevous/awkward in a Chevy Chase/Magic Johnson show sort of way. My first thought was maybe Fox gave her this show to give others on Fox ammunition as to what is coming from the "left." I mean, really, "Bush pee?" Will be interesting to see how the show fares.
DAMMIT!!! I thought it was real! (The Coulter thingie). Wanda, that's not cool until you do it for real.
Re. her opening about President Obama, oh boy, goodbye Wanda. I USED to love you. President Obama is Bush/Cheney Continued, and Wanda Sykes is a hard-working propagandist for the status quo.
The rest is funny, though. Real hard not to watch and laugh.
The way she ripped ann a new one almost made me feel sorry for ann.
But then I realized she was not smart enough to understand she was being made fun of. Bush pee all over place and the teabaggaers look at Obama like he is zipping up his fly! It was funny but more then that true.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that is killing America!
Wanda had me shaking with mirth, all 190 pounds of me. That is the funniest woman on earth.
