But To Defend Our Country, NOT SO MUCH.

The title is horribly misleading, because the CIA became LIARS long before the current (BO) regime.
A little history is due here (which is NOT all-inclusive):
(1) Murder of Diem brothers just weeks before JFK's assassination, which paved the way
for RVN regime change (Ky), and massive US military involvement in the VN civil war.
(2) Waging of Illegal and Unauthorized secret CIA war in Laos against both the legal
government there AND against the NVN army encroachment in Laos, funded by CIA
involvement in Golden Triangle war lords Opium Base/Morphine trade.
(3) Operation COINTELPRO, a combined intelligence community operation directed
against prominent domestic opponents of the illegal Viet Nam War.
(4) Woodward and Bernstein's "Deep Throat" warning about the entire US intelligence
community's involvement in operations against the Democratic Party in the run-up to
the 1972 elections.
(4) The Iran-Contra Affair, a CIA-led illegal operation to fund and equip military munitions
to the Contras against a duly elected left-of-center government, yet again involved in
the illicit drug trade to covertly fund this operation without the purview of Congress.
(5) President George HW Bush's invasion of Panama, in order to depose and arrest
General Noriega, the CIA's Man in Panama, allegedly due to narcotics trafficing, but
really because Noriega not only seized Columbian drug lord accounts, but also the
CIA's secret slush fund.
Finally, (6) CIA/DIA/DoD/FBI/NSA involvement in VP Cheney's secret (Domestic and)
International Murder Incorporated, directed not only at Al Queda operatives, but also
anyone with a strong public voice against the illegal Iraq War. Remember Bush's "If
you are not with us, then you are against us" meme, as well as provisions of the MCA
which allowed seizure of assets, suspension of habeous corpus, and arrest without
warrant against ANY PERSON, foreign or domestic, that could be considered to have
provided material aid and comfort to terrorists (including the loyal opposition?)

Not only must the M-I-C be cut back by 50% - 75% (pull their fangs), but both the
CIA and NSA need a thorough top-to-bottom clearing out of ALL non-democratic
and unconstitutional personnel. Judging by our European Union/NATO allies, even
They are afraid of the USA intelligence community's rouge status, even regarding
US Corporate Welfare industrial espionage against them. Enough is quite enough,
and real, tough-love Congressional oversight of the intelligence community is long
overdue.
