April 14, 2010 FOX News

Heather: Tom Coburn backtracks from his previous criticism of Fox News and claims he was just being critical of all of the media instead. When asked why he singled out Fox News he said he knows that's what his conservative constituents who attend his town halls watch. They're all Fox-crazy!! They love Fox.

Funny he was not willing to name another media source pushing the IRS lie. Maybe he was referring to right wing hate talk radio, since that's likely the only other place a great deal of his constituents get their "news" as well.

John Amato:

I wonder how Coburn feels to have Bill O'Reilly lie to his face and deny FOX promoted the very claims that Coburn is making about FOx News?

He told the truth one time by accident. Now he is back on the right track, being a lying asshole and scumbag republican.
The worst thing that ever happened to America is the modern day GOP!
All other thing pale next to that. The ronald reagan republicans have done more damage to the country and the people then any group of terrorists could ever do.
Get rid of them any way you can!

It sure looks that way. I wonder if his insurance will cover him for that?

What is your conceptual, continuity?

FOX LIES

Frgn' Cavuto. He says he doesn't really care what Coburn said, yet he goes on and on about him mentioning Faux. He is so defensive. Coburn accidentally told the truth, and Faux gets all over him.

Last night, I heard O'Reilly say something to the effect that there's some new developments in this story and he will talk about those in his talking points tonight. Can't wait to see the spin BillO puts on what Coburn said, and what he himself said about no one on Faux ever saying one would go to jail if they didn't buy health insurance.

trying to get the question out without sounding like he was whining. He failed.

I don't think Coburn backtracked much, if any at all. When asked why he singled out FOX he said it was because the questioner mentioned FOX. When Cavuto keeps pressing him on why he did not mention other media who Cavuto claims were spreading the same lies, he continues to focus on FOX and not attack other media sources by name. That is when he states most of the people in the audience were FOX junkies. He goes on to say "if we are gonna win the fight we have to win it on facts." He even plays on the FOX "fair and balanced" slogan derisively.

The real news here is that Cavuto admits "his" research shows FOX did repeat the IRS/Jail lie.

To use one of your favorite posting devices: Why didn't C&L mention that Cavuto confirmed O'Reilly is a liar? Or an idiot?

Yes, I thought it was interesting that Cavuto did some research and did admit to a problem.

I also thought it was interesting that Coburn explained who he thought his audience was, and continued to try his best to explain that 'all media' are biased -- which clearly includes Fox -- and that people need to be a little more open-minded and curious about where they get their info.

For Coburn, this is a change. It may not be all that I'd like to see, but it **is** a positive change to hear some discussion of the fact that Fox is not always correct, that they are biased, and that Coburn has shown the guts to state that publicly.

This glass is half-full, and that's progress.

Neil Cavuto, crazy as FOX.

Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.

Not a peep when Bush cuts taxes or started wars. Not a mention that Republican policies damaged or economy and caused over 5 million lost jobs and lost tax revenue from the unemployed.

And of course, there were no t baggers for the 8 years Bush ravaged the budget and spent like a drunken sailor.

And why is there no mention of companies like Goldman Sachs or Exxon Mobil paying next to NO federal income tax?

As far as I'm concerned, these Republicans can go to hell.

GEE, why would anybody snap on the racist channel with the most proven habitual LIARS and lunatics??

...was this:

'If people get unemployment payments, they're never going to accept slave wages'.

I mean, that was Cavuto's thesis -- why pick on Fox when everyone else was saying it.

I don't recall anyone but the chowderheads at Fox (or Fox wannabes on other shows like Hardball) claiming that you'd be imprisoned if you didn't purchase health insurance.

Very sad isn't it? They all bow to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. Fixed News is sicko. They prey on the ignorant. They lie to their viewers intentionally and consistently. I always believed that when people lie to you, it's a sign of disrespect. They do because their viewers just keep coming back for more.

I'm confused. Why is Cavuto blaming Coburn? Is it Coburns' fault that Fox News doesn't get their facts straight???

O'Reilly's latest claim is that Faux News "accurately" reported you could get jail/prison time for not buying health insurance back when getting jail/prison time for not buying health insurance was "on the table".

Then he apparently tries to support his false claim by showing a clumsily edited clip of Obama and Pelosi from early November 2009, each clearly NOT saying jail/prison time for not buying health insurance was on the table no matter how clumsily Faux News Channel editors edited the clips.

Here's the deal: Jail/prison time was NEVER "on the table" for not buying health insurance in any version of the health care reform bill. Not in the House version, the Senate version, or the bill Obama signed before or after the reconciliation additions. Never.

There was only a brief time when ordinary Internal Revenue Code penalties applied to anyone refusing to pay a tax. The same penalties that might apply to every tax in the code. But that is not the health care bill in any version. It is the Internal Revenue Code.

O'Reilly has now compounded lie upon lie so many times on this issue I doubt even he could count them.
