The Shoot to Kill Crowd

What Arthur says...

And If I Am Out of Touch

John Cole wrote a great piece: "... But the vast majority of people who are stranded, and, I fear, dead in the flooded parts of NO in numbers we have not yet begun to discover and comprehend, did not ‘choose’ to ‘ignore’ the warnings. They simply had no place to go, no way to get there, no way to afford living in a motel/hotel somewhere else, no relatives outside the region, no automobile....read on"

So much truth in those words. My father didn't make it past the ninth grade and we struggled to make ends meet all through my years living at home. As a ten year old, I would see other kids with new sneakers and I'd make believe I had an older brother who would magically whisk me down to the store in his shiny car and buy me a pair of the newest Converse. There was no Nike or Puma around then and the color didn't much matter.

Adopt a Family in Houston

I just received an urgent call to get this message out from the Cindy Sheehan camp. Anyone in distance of the Houston Astrodome get over there and adopt a family if you can. It's a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions. They need your help. The call is out. Let's do something to help these families.

Anderson Cooper just gave it to Landrieu

A picture named Cooper-Landrieu.jpg

Cooper started the interview this way:

Cooper: "Does the federal government bear any responsibility for what is happening, should they apologize for what is happening now?"

Landrieu put on a happy face and thanked all the wonderful politicians for showing their support. I mean WTF? Everyone is worried about their own asses and doing little if anything for the people on the ground.

Think Progress has the transcripts.

Jeralyn: "He laced into Sen. Mary Landrieu saying people who have witnessed the devastation don't want to hear politicans congratulating other politicians for how they've responded. He was yelling, basically, "Don't you get it yet?" He mentioned seeing a woman's body on the ground being eaten by rats. Landrieu told Anderson she understood what he was saying and then thanked the President again ."

All Spin Zone: Cooper Rocks: "Cooper has been down in the middle of the devastation on the Gulf Coast since the beginning of the week. Today, he apparently hit his breaking point...read on"

Wonkette: Cooper's 360 Roundhouse: Do not get the pretty boys mad: Mary Landrieu goes on about how great Bill Frist is. Anderson Cooper responds that it's hard to take politicians thanking each other when rats are gnawing dead bodies in the streets...read on

Cafferty Goes Off on the Administration

Jack has been a lightning rod of late and he excoriates the federal government for the way they have handled this disaster.

Cafferty:...I'm 62 and I remember the riots in Watts, I remember the earth Quake in San Francisco, I remember a lot of things. I have never, ever seen anything as badly bungled and poorly handled as this situation in New Orleans. Where the hell is the water for these people. Why can't sandwiches be dropped to those people that are in that Super Dome down there...This is Thursday...This storm happened five days ago. It's a disgrace and don't think the world isn't watching...
